Racquetball Information

Leagues

This event is round robin format.

Leagues run for 7 weeks with one week for make-up play. There is a 2-week play-off schedule, afterwards. The leagues are based on points. Matches are all three games to 15 points. Even if a player wins the first 2 games – Players play the third game to 15 points. At the end of the league all scores are put into the computer and calculated. The calculation will bring up the players rating based on the points scored and scored upon an opponent. Leagues run four times per year – Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall.

Open Tournaments

Open to the state – To participate, all players must be USAR/TXRA sanctioned members. All of the top PROS in the nation will be here to compete in the Pro Event. The tournament takes place over a 4-day weekend and prize money is awarded to top finishers in the Open Event and The Pro Event.

Blind Handicap Shoot Outs

Play is round robin

On designated Saturdays players meet at 10:00am and are placed in their division. Each division is handicapped. The players do not know what the handicap is! They have to play their opponent and the handicapper. Top players come out of each division and play in a single elimination tournament which is also handicapped. The winner receives a percentage of the entry fees. Second place receives their entry fee back.

Club Championships

Two Championships per year.

Both events are tournament bracket events. The first annual event is held in June and is based on level divisions. It is a double elimination tournament held on a Saturday. Awards are given to top finishers. The second annual event is held in December and is based on age divisions. It is a double elimination tournament held on a Saturday. Awards are given to top finishers.

Challenge Ladder

Monday 12:00 noon

This event runs four times per year for seven weeks.

Same as the leagues. Players play one game to 15 points and switch opponents. If the player wins he or she plays up if they lose they would play down. At the end of the seven weeks the player on the top of the ladder takes home prize money. After the seven week session all the players are placed in a seeded handicap tournament, depending on how they did in the seven week session. The player to win the tournament receives the second half of the prize money.

Challenge Court

Court One is the challenge court at all times – except when needed for special events.

Players can write their name on the court with a dry erase marker and await their turn to play. Play is to 15 points unless there are 4 or more players waiting, then games are to 11 points. A player can stay on the court as long as allowed by the same person. Then the next two players waiting will take over the court.

Clinics

New player orientation – New members and existing members are invited to come and learn the game of racquetball. The basics of forehand and backhand mechanics are given as well as the rules and equipment. Safety is the first topic. If enough time remains, strategy is also instructed. This is a one hour session given once a month.

Lessons

Individual, Group and Video Lessons – Rates depend upon the type of lesson. Most lessons run for one hour and are catered to the player.

Racquet Repair

Racquetball, Squash, Tennis and Badminton

String repair and grip repair available to all brands and types of racquets.

Demo / Radar Nights

New equipment demonstrations

Players can come down and check out the new racquetball equipment. A radar gun is on hand to compare speeds with different racquets. Designated Wednesday evenings are scheduled.

Play the Pro / Clinic

Every Monday from 5:30pm-6:30pm

Each Monday there is a different pro on hand. Players can come down and play a game to 15 points with the designated pro for that Monday. On the last Monday of the month all the Pros come down and players can choose who they want to play with. Play is designed around the player’s ability.

‘Dallas Series’

One Day Shoot Out Tournament

Singles Only

All of these events are round robin format.

From January until May there is a series of 5 one day shoot outs. These are USAR/TXRA sanctioned events. Each month there is a shoot out. Players participate in their divisions or divisions that they qualify for! A point system is used to keep track of each player. The points accumulate from shoot out to shoot out. After the fourth shoot out, the points are tallied. The top 6 players from each division are invited to the fifth invitational event. Awards are given in all divisions. The fifth invitational will have awards as well as prize money.

‘Dallas Doubles Series’

One Day Shoot Out Tournaments

All of these events are round robin format.

From July until November there is a series of 5 one day shoot out tournaments. These are USAR/TXRA sanctioned events. Each month there is a shoot out. Players participate in their divisions or divisions that they qualify for! A point system is used to keep track of each player. The points accumulate from shoot out to shoot out. Players can compete with the same partner or change partners per event. As a team you compete for points and as individuals you accrue points for the overall standing. Which after the fifth event the player with the highest point tally will receive prize money. Awards are given in all divisions. The fifth event will have awards as well as prize money.
