The Ball...The Wall...The Brawl!

Three factors to consider when playing the game of racquetball. This is a three part series. The first series which will be discussed later in length deals with the types and brands of Ball. The second series will deal with the different types of Walls that a player compete's on. The third series will deal with the Brawl, meaning who your opponents is and their style of play.

The first series deals with the game Ball.

There are two main brands of Balls used in Texas racquetball, Ektelon and Penn. Both are endorsed by the Texas Amateur Racquetball Association, (T.A.R.A.). Ektelon is the faster of the two. Penn is the slower Ball a could be considered more of a control Ball. Put an Ektelon Ball on concrete plaster walls and you have a very fast pace game. Ektelon on panel walls will still be fast, but the Ball will grab more, which can slow it down.

Penn Balls on concrete plaster walls would perform similarly to the Ektelon Ball on panel walls, still fast pace with good control. Penn Balls on panel walls would be a control player's dream, slow. So pick the ball that fits your game, and be sure to check to see what the game Ball is going to be!

This leads us into the part two, the Walls! Check back with us!
